David Munyua, a professional veterinarian, also known as ‘Why Not’, a 30-year-old, has proven that everything is possible through determination. On Friday 19, December 2025, just like many Kenyan athletes do, he became a champion at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship, and he is the first Kenyan player to ever represent at such a level.

He qualified at Ally Pally after emerging as the winner at the African Darts Group Championship qualifier, defeating Cameron Carolissen.

Munyua revealed that it was his first time traveling outside Africa. Before his journey to the UK, he expressed his joy, explaining he had been waiting for that particular chance to come and play dart outside Kenya to experience the good boards and lights. He showed that he was able to make it at a higher level.

Munyua is a Kikuyu from the Murang’a region. His love for playing darts began while at an entertainment joint, where he was playing with his friends during the weekends, and his interest grew over time. After he acquired enough skills in the hobby, he started participating in small competitions, and now he can win trophies at a global level.
