He rose to fame after challenging Majembe to fight him until he destroys his cheeks, meaning “Mbavu” in Kiswahili. He used the phrase ‘Weka Mawe’ in a viral video where a young man was holding a big stone and beating it on his back.
The video drew attention from Kenyans, who wondered how powerful he was. The phrase “Weka Mawe” trended for almost one and a half months and was even used by politicians like President William Ruto and current ODM leader Oburu Odinga.
Oga Obinna then planned a match between Mbavu Destroyer and Majembe. President Ruto even promised to give one million each to the two men and pay for 2,000 tickets for fans.
After long waits by Kenyans, the Vurugu Fight match took place on April 4, 2026, on Saturday, a match that was attended by thousands of Kenyans and many celebrities, including Khaligraph Jones, Babu Owino, and Jalang’o. What surprised many was that the 21-year-old Majembe won the fight against his opponent, Mbavu Destroyer, who is 25 years old, tall, and looks stronger.
