How to Get Driver and Conductor Jobs at Zuri Genesis SACCO: Salaries, Recruitment and Applications
Zuri Genesis SACCO is a matatu company in Nairobi. Unlike Super Metro, which has routes all over Nairobi, Zuri mainly operates on one route from Nairobi CBD, Odeon area, to Kahawa West, Githurai 44, Zimmerman, and Roysambu. Although there are other matatu Saccos such as Nazigi, Rukagina, and Nicco, Zuri is the most common, loved, and widely used by professionals travelling to their workplaces.
Their vehicles are easily recognizable because they have a uniform blue color. The SACCO has clean and modern vehicles and offers professional service. Passengers frequently praise the SACCO for having disciplined conductors, adhering to safety regulations such as avoiding overloading, and playing moderate music.
The SACCO has seen significant expansion, recently adding new buses and modern matatus, such as those in the KDQ series, to its fleet. They often use Isuzu buses for fleet expansion.
Zuri is managed by a board of directors, including individuals such as Gabriel Mwangi, James Karanja, and Beth Wanjiru.

Famous Bus Stops
The vehicles from town have several common stops. The first major stop is Roysambu TRM, where passengers staying along Lumumba Drive and near Tsavo alight. From there, the second stop is at Khetias Supermarket for people residing around Mirema Drive and the Zimmerman Deliverance Church area. The third stop is at Canopy, while the fourth stop is near SNL Lounge, which is now in Githurai 44.
Some buses end their journey there, while others continue up to the Kahawa area before returning for another trip to town.
Along the route, there is also Super Metro SACCO, but it offers less competition because people around the area are already very familiar with Zuri.
How to Become a Conductor
To become a conductor, it is not always necessary to go to the offices and submit papers. Most people start at a lower level by helping lure customers into matatus. Once you become known by drivers and conductors who have been in the business for a long time, they may give you a chance as a “Squod” to work for a day when they are busy. Over time, you gain experience and become a professional conductor.

How to Get a Driver Job
To get a driver job at Zuri Genesis SACCO, you must meet the standard National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) requirements. Ensure you have a valid driving license for classes D1, D2, or D3, a certificate of good conduct, and other documents such as a KRA PIN.
Drivers who know the vehicle owner usually have an easier time getting hired. Once a vehicle owner agrees to hire you, they will introduce you to the Zuri Genesis SACCO office.
Their main administration and operations offices are located in the Central Business District along Tom Mboya Street, opposite the Nairobi Central Fire Station.
If you are visiting to submit your driving credentials, do not go directly to a back-office desk first. Request to see the Stage Clerk or Route Inspector. They manage the active register of vetted drivers and maintain direct contact with vehicle owners (investors) who are looking to employ new staff.
How Much Do Zuri Genesis Drivers and Conductors Earn?
Drivers and conductors are usually paid daily wages rather than fixed monthly salaries. This is how most matatu owners in Nairobi operate because there can be vehicle breakdowns, heavy traffic, or even demonstrations that affect daily collections. Vehicle owners normally set a daily target that must be met.
Drivers can earn between KSh 1,500 and KSh 3,000 per day, while conductors may earn between KSh 1,000 and KSh 2,000 per day. Squods (Kamagera/Shimo) may earn around KSh 500 daily.
The earnings vary depending on the agreement with the vehicle owner.
