Prince Indah’s official name is Evans Ochieng’ Owino; he is a celebrated Kenyan musician, composer, and cultural icon. He has contributed to Luo Ohangla music being recognised globally with the quality of songs he produces, and he has made a name for himself in the Kenyan music industry. Earlier, before his fame in music, he was a mere dancer to Emma Jalamo, who is his godfather in the music industry. Prince Indah’s story is a powerful testament to resilience, passion, and hard work.

Age & Early Life

He was born on 9th August 1994 in Murumba Village, Ugunja, Siaya County. He is currently 32 years old as of 2026. He never came from a well-off family; they were a total of five siblings, and he was the third child in a family of five siblings. His parents, Meshack Owino, a father, and Caroline Achieng’, mother, were doing a small business to earn a living in Nairobi, Hurumu, where they stayed in the 1990s.

In 2003, he lost his father, and since the family was depending on him, they were forced to return home to Ugenya. Their mother became a pillar of the family during challenges. While Evans was in high school, her mother started ailing, and she passed away while in form three. He had no choice but to step up and take responsibility for the rest of the family.

Education

He started his lower school at Daima Primary School, Nairobi, in 2004. After his father’s death, he joined Oloma Murumba Primary School, where he did his final exam and scored 356 marks. In 2009, he enrolled at Missions of Hope High School in Machakos County, where his love for music started, and he participated in drama festivals that gained him experience in the entertainment field. After his mother’s death, he dropped out of school as he was unable to pay for school fees.

Entry Into Music

Following his fallout from school, he moved to Nairobi to hunt for a job. He did small hustles in the industrial area, and sometimes he went to Mjengo to make ends meet. Because of his love for music, he attended local Ohangla music performances where he met Emma Jalamo, who joined his team as a dancer.

In time, Prince Indah was entrusted with more responsibility, rising to become a backup singer and curtain raiser for the band. His voice, charisma, and work ethic made him a crowd favourite — setting the stage for his future as a solo artist.

Music Career and Evolution

As of 2025, Prince Indah has a total of six albums; the latest one, Timeless Anthems, has 16 tracks, which include Ngima Dhano, Pedesha, Believe Me, Berna, Jo Fitina, and Mirima, among others. He first made a bold move to release his first song in 2014, Cynderela and Pokna.

In 2016, he left the Ramogi Ohangla Rhumba (R.O.R) Band and formed his own, Malaika Musicals. He progressed and gathered his team; he even hired his MC, Ogina Koko, and manager, Pius Omodho, who helped him run his programs like bookings, recordings, and plans.

Unique thing with Prince Indah is that all his releases are hits that are played everywhere, in media stations, hotels, and when in the Nyanza region, when in the place, you can note that it is hard to walk more than 500 m without finding a person listening to his tunes, the Luos love the man.

Prince Indah is always booked, and he performs in big Kenyan Clubs, Quiver, Baniyas Square, Da Place, Al Capon, and Covo. He is now a movement; TikTok dancers hugely use his songs to do dance challenges, where a large number have become famous.

Indah is generous with his talent; he has collaborated with other upcoming Luo artists like Jarapogi, Elish Toto, and Papa T, and he has also featured famous Kenyan artists like Bahati in Adhiambo song.

Awards

On 2024 12 December, Jamhuri Day ceremony, he received a prestigious award from President William Ruto, Order of the Grand Warrior (O.G.W) medal. He has also won the best musician of the year and Luo Ohangla artist of the year several times.

Wife

He has one wife, a beautiful Luo woman, Mama Camara (Winnie Nyamigori), and they have one daughter, Camara. They did a colorful traditional wedding at Rapogi Village, Migori County, Kenya, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, which was attended by several Luo politicians, celebrities, and musicians, including the famous Luo designer Bolo Bespoke, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.
