George Kimutai Ruto is the youngest son of the fifth President of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, and the First Lady, Rachel Chebet Ruto. Interestingly, he is one of the most popular among the siblings despite keeping a very low profile. Many Kenyans admire him for his politeness, and despite coming from a prominent political family, he often interacts with ordinary Kenyans and appears in public in casual clothing. He usually seems cheerful.
Unlike his sister, Charlene Ruto, he is not deeply involved in politics and instead focuses on his business ventures.

Age
George Ruto was born in 1998 in Eldoret. He is 28 years old as of 2026.
He grew up in a politically oriented family, which exposed him early to leadership, entrepreneurship, and public life.
Education
He began his primary education in the Rift Valley and later joined Mang’u National School for his secondary studies. After completing his studies in 2017, he joined Strathmore University, one of the leading private universities in Kenya, known for excellence in business, technology, and law.
In 2021, he graduated with a degree in Actuarial Science, a discipline that uses mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to assess and manage risk, mainly in insurance, finance, and pensions. This academic background is believed to have influenced his interest in the Nganya matatu and transport business.
Business Career and Matatu Empire
George Ruto’s love for Nganya is unmatched. Nganya are famous luxury matatus in Nairobi that are popular among the youth, especially on routes to Rongai and Embakasi. They provide employment to many young people in Nairobi and typically charge passengers between KSh100 and KSh200 per trip, depending on time and weather conditions.
Unlike ordinary matatus, Nganya often fill up quickly because of their popularity among Nairobi residents. They also tend to use time-saving routes to deliver passengers faster to their destinations.
So far, George Ruto has reportedly invested in two Nganya matatus.
1. Manifest
Manifest was the first matatu that made headlines in August 2024. It was a high-end orange luxury matatu operating on the Ngong–CBD route. The vehicle was in high demand and reportedly generated up to KSh8,000 per day. It was driven by a popular driver known as Kinara. At one point, it was impounded by NTSA for violating traffic rules.

2. Mood
The second matatu, Mood, reportedly cost about KSh14 million to assemble and decorate. During its launch in Nairobi, it was welcomed by thousands of youths and matatu culture enthusiasts, attracting massive media attention.
The matatu features a live DJ mixing deck at the front, 65-inch TV screens fitted along the windows, luxury high-end bucket seats for passengers, solar power, and air conditioning.

Net Worth
As the President’s son, George Ruto is believed to have significant wealth. His family owns expensive properties across the country, including luxury hotels, land, and agricultural investments. Estimates of his wealth are based on his known investments and lifestyle.
The matatu industry is known to be profitable in Kenya. Reports indicate that a single luxury matatu can generate tens of thousands of shillings daily, depending on routes and demand.
According to reports, Mood can generate significant income, with profits estimated at KSh20,000 on a normal day and up to KSh80,000 when hired, highlighting the lucrative nature of the matatu business.
George Ruto has also been linked to other matatus such as Matrix, which reportedly cost about KSh8.7 million. These investments have positioned him as a notable young entrepreneur in Kenya’s transport industry.
In January 2026, social media claims emerged alleging that George Ruto bought a luxury Lexus SUV worth nearly KSh100 million using profits from his matatu business.
However, there is no verified evidence from credible media outlets confirming this purchase. The story remains an unverified claim circulating online and should not be treated as factual information.

Based on available information about his matatu investments, assets, and lifestyle, analysts estimate that George Ruto’s net worth could range from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of Kenyan shillings. However, this remains speculative due to the absence of official financial disclosures.
Girlfriend
George Ruto keeps his personal life private, and there is no verified public information about his girlfriend or romantic relationships. Unlike many public figures, he has not openly discussed his dating life, and any claims circulating on social media remain unverified.
Public Image and Influence
George Ruto has become a symbol of youth entrepreneurship in Kenya’s transport industry. His luxury matatus have influenced matatu culture, attracting massive youth attention and sparking discussions about wealth, business, and privilege.
Despite criticism and speculation surrounding his wealth, he remains one of the most talked-about young entrepreneurs in Kenya.
